Don't Trash That Dress

My friend Maria had slaved over the making of the wedding dress for her daughter Julie so when we announced a desire to do a "trash the dress" session, she almost fainted. Her wedding the previous year had been in Courtenay and I was already booked for a Canmore wedding so 'Uncle Richard' couldn't attend. When I visited last fall, Julie, who I have known for 26 of her 28 years, asked if I would be interested in doing a "trash the dress" session which I have always wanted to do. We were warned that we could get the dress wet but no damage was to come to it..... under pain of death.
Off we went to a local waterfall, Brown's River Falls, and the usual Courtenay rain stopped and gave us gorgeous diffused light through the surrounding forest.

This was my first creative shoot with the nikon D800 camera and the amazing nikkor 14-24mm lens.  The first prints were 20x30 inches and were mind-boggling ... and my frozen beautiful model loved
the images we created that day.  What a great wedding gift for a dear friend and her family.
